In grown toenails are initially treated by cutting back the nail. If they persist or become infected, the best solution can be removal of part ( or sometimes all) of the nail.
Courses of antibiotics often do not solve ingrown toenails, as there may be a spike of nail digging into the skin. It needs to be removed before the toe can heal fully. The operation takes place at The Clinic and takes only a short time.
Injections are given to numb the toe before the offending part of the nail is removed. The nail bed is often treated with phenol to prevent regrowth of the problem area, a dressing is required for approximately 2 weeks following surgery.
Appointments can be arranged at a time to suit you, with the least disruption to your working or sporting life.
Children’s Foot Care
Children’s foot health is vitally important, and they may benefit from seeing a podiatrist. They can have problems with verrucas, ingrown toenails and flat feet ( collapsed arches)
Diabetic Foot Care Clinics
With diabetes rapidly on the increase, more people than ever need to take care of their feet. This disease can lead to a loss of sensation in the feet, with serious consequences such as ulceration and even amputation. With good foot care and good blood sugar control, however most diabetics should NOT have serious problems.
Diabetic clients could benefit from attending for podiatry appointmenst privately between their NHS appointments. This can prevent small problems like corns becoming bigger problems such as ulcers.
